By Joo Dae-eun Reporter= Leandro Paredes, 29, has returned to AS Roma under Jose Mourinho.
On the 16th (KST), AS Roma announced on their official website, ‘We are pleased to announce that Paredes has returned to the club. His contract runs until June 30, 2025.
Paredes came up through the ranks at CA Boca Juniors and donned an AS Roma shirt just before the 2014/15 season, but there was no room in the squad. At the time, the club had established midfielders like De Rossi and Nainggolan, so he was sent out on loan to gain experience.
Upon his return, he became an integral part of the Roma team. His performance at Roma made him a target for Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg. He made 61 appearances for Zenit, scoring 10 goals and providing 16 assists. His solid performances prompted Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to make a move for Paredes.
At the same time, Chelsea also wanted him, but PSG was the winner. He wore the PSG jersey for the 2018/19 season, but didn’t really establish himself. In five years and 117 games, he scored three goals and provided 10 assists. In 2022/23, he moved to Juventus on loan to try to turn things around, but it didn’t work.
Instead, he had a decent career with the Argentina national team. He won the Copa America in 2021 and helped Argentina reach the top of the world at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.바카라사이트
After several disappointing stints at different clubs, he eventually returned to his hometown club Roma. “Coming back to Rome is always special, but coming back as a player is even more special,” Paredes said, adding, “I want to thank Roma for bringing me back and the fans for welcoming me.
