Choi Jun-yong had 30 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. He is the fifth Korean player to do so, behind Hyun Joo-yup, Seo Jang-hoon, Kim Joo-sung and Moon Tae-young.
Busan KCC snapped a four-game losing streak with a 78-69 victory over Goyang Sono on Sunday at Busan Sajik Gymnasium.
Leading the way was Choi Jun-yong with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. He was supported by Ragan-ah, who had 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Choi scored 16 points in the second quarter alone. It tied his career-high of 16 points in the fourth quarter against Wonju DB on January 5, 2018.
Specifically, Choi scored all 16 of his team’s points himself, starting with a three-pointer at 5:27 in the second quarter and ending with a jumper at 9:27 in the third quarter. Including his assists, 28 points in a row came from his hands.레모나토토
Without Choi at this point, the momentum would have shifted to Sono and KCC would have had a much tougher time.
It was only the fifth time in history that a Korean player recorded 30 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
Hyun Ju-yeop was the first to do so, recording a triple-double with 31 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists against Wonju Narae (now DB) on Jan. 2, 1999. Seo Jang-hoon (Oct. 27, 2002 vs. KCC 31 points, 19 rebounds, 6 assists), Kim Joo-sung (Nov. 15, 2003 vs. LG 34 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists), and Moon Tae-young (Nov. 18, 2009 vs. KT&G 41 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists) followed suit.
Choi joined the legends 14 years after Moon Tae-young.
The 30 points are the third-most in a game for Choi. His previous career-high was 32 points against the Seoul Samsung on January 16, 2018.
Since his 32-point performance, Choi has scored 25+ points in eight consecutive games, including this one, all in victory.
Even when he switched teams from SK to KCC, he continued his winning formula of scoring 25+ points.
For reference, he lost his first two games with 25+ points in his debut, so his winning percentage in games with 25+ points is 80% (8-2).
