Brazilian soccer star Neymar, 31, who suffered a major knee injury, has successfully undergone surgery.
Neymar underwent knee surgery at the Mater Dei Hospital in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, AFP and other news organizations reported on Wednesday.굿모닝토토 도메인
“The surgery was successful,” said Brazilian national team doctor Hodrigo Lasmar, who performed the operation to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament and repair the damaged meniscus. We are very happy with the results.”
“Everything is going to be fine,” Neymar wrote on Instagram, posting a series of photos of himself holding a family photo and giving a thumbs-up.
The surgery went well, but he will miss several months of action.
Local Brazilian media are predicting that Neymar won’t be able to return to the field until the middle of next year.
Neymar collapsed in the final minutes of the first half of Brazil’s South American qualifier for the 2026 North and Central American World Cup in Montevideo, Uruguay, last month.
After pounding the ground with his hands in agony, Neymar was stretchered off with what turned out to be a serious injury.
Recognized as a world-class striker, Neymar is no stranger to injury.
In 2018, he underwent surgery for a fractured foot, and in March, he injured his ankle and missed six months of action.
Neymar has played six seasons for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the club he joined in 2017 for a record-breaking €222 million ($315 billion), and every season has been plagued by injuries, both major and minor.
In August this year, he moved to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal for a transfer fee of 90 million euros ($103 million) and an annual salary of 100 million dollars ($133.5 million).
However, after scoring just one goal in five official matches for Al-Hilal, he was once again ‘closed’.
Despite being constantly hampered by injuries, Neymar surpassed Pele’s record of 79 career A-match goals in September.
