In the Samil Park League finals held at Hoengseong Baseball Park on the morning of the 17th, hosted by Gangwon Ilbo, Korea Baseball Softball Association, Hoengseong-gun, and Hoengseong-gun Sports Council, Daejeon’s Shinheung Elementary School won a shutout 5-0 against Chungbuk Seokgyo Elementary School. Shinheung Elementary School’s number one hitter, Lee Dong-gyu (infielder), attacked in the bottom of the first inning and ran away with two runs in the first inning, including a home run as the lead hitter. Seokgyo Elementary School threw a game-winning game with a fast, hit-and-run baseball game, but was blocked by Shinheung Elementary pitcher Lee Jin-woong’s fight and was unable to find a clue to their pursuit. In the Taegi King League that continued this afternoon, Seoul Gadong Elementary School, which is causing a stir by dominating the national championship, won the championship over Pohang’s hope, Gyeongbuk Daehae Elementary School, with a thrilling comeback drama with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Gadongcho took a 4-2 lead with consecutive scores in the first and second innings. However, Daehae Elementary turned the situation around by scoring 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning, led by Kim Dae-hyun’s two-run shot and pitcher Kim Na-won’s three-run shot. The game was decided in the bottom of the 6th inning. Kim Seong-hoon (49), head coach of Gongdong Elementary School, said, “There were players who were not in good shape throughout the game, but they did not give up until the end and were able to achieve the final result. “I am grateful to the players and parents who cheered for us loudly.”
About 3,000 aspiring Korean baseball players from 88 teams from 17 metropolitan cities and provinces across the country participated in this tournament, which was held in a tournament format starting on the 6th. The finals on the last day included Hoengseong-gun Mayor Kim Myeong-gi, Hoengseong-gun Chairman Kim Young-sook, Gangwon Ilmu Executive Director Choi Byeong-soo, and Hoengseong-gun Sports Director Park Myeong-seo.
