Napoli’s Victor Osimhen (24) has had his share of controversy.
Napoli beat Udinese 4-1 at home on Monday (Nov. 28) in the sixth round of the 2023-24 Serie A season.
Napoli have been in a bad mood lately. The defending Serie A champions have had a rough start to the season. Along with the leadership controversy of head coach Rudi Garcia, there has been a clash with Osimhen.
Osimhen was recently embroiled in a racial slur controversy. Napoli posted a video on their official channel of Osimhen missing a penalty against Bologna with the words “gimme penalty please” dubbed over it. The video mocked Osimhen by calling him a coconut. The post has since been deleted.
Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, was furious. He is preparing a legal response to the club’s mockery of his player on social media. “We are preparing legal action to defend Victor,” he said, “The video posted on Napoli’s official TikTok platform is unacceptable. It has caused very serious damage to the player. Osimhen has even been treated for fake news in the past.”
All summer long, Osimhen has been the subject of transfer rumors. He has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs, but has opted to stay put. However, the incident seems to have shaken him. He deleted almost all of his Napoli-related posts on social media. This has led to speculation that he could leave in January.
Despite the controversy, Osimhen hasn’t neglected his work. He started the game and scored a goal.
Garcia told Italian outlet Football Italia: “I can assure you that Osimhen loves Napoli. He is 100% invested in our project,” Garcia said, adding, “I have a good relationship with Osimhen. I have a good relationship with him and I’m happy he scored the goal.”온라인카지노
“We were all frustrated and angry when we missed the penalty in Bologna. We had a lot to manage over the next few days, not only on the pitch but also on social media.”
“The fact that Osimhen deleted all the photos related to Napoli from his social media is not meant to hurt him, it’s his account and he can do what he wants with it.”
