The Samsung Lions managed to escape a losing streak against the Hanwha Eagles in a doubleheader, but failed to win back-to-back games.
In a doubleheader against Hanwha at Hanwha Life Eagles Park on April 27 after the previous day’s game was canceled due to rain, Samsung used a big inning to win the first game of the doubleheader 11-3, but the bats went silent in the second game, dropping the game 0-4.
With Widener on the mound in game one, Samsung fell behind Hanwha in the second inning and then traded runs and ties before giving up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh, raising fears of a sixth straight loss, but the bats came alive late in the game.
With runners on first and second and three outs in the eighth inning, Lee Jae-hyun hit a grand slam, and Samsung went on to score six runs in the top of the ninth to take the win, with Oh Seung-hwan, who came on in the bottom of the eighth, closing out the game with ease to record his 25th save of the season.
With a 13-hit game and sending a whopping 10 pitchers to the Hanwha mound, Samsung had high hopes for a sweep in the second game of the doubleheader, but failed to capitalize on Hanwha starter Peña and suffered a scoreless loss.
With the exception of Koo Ja-rook, who had a multi-hit game, and Pirela, who had a single, the rest of Samsung’s bats were silent as they struggled with a three-hit game, with starter Hwang Dong-jae taking the loss with two runs, and Hong Won-pyo and Kim Dae-woo, who came on later in the game, giving up additional runs.
After escaping the losing streak, but failing to win back-to-back games, Samsung will take on league-leading LG Twins in Jamsil with the fatigue of playing a doubleheader. LG will look to extend their winning streak to six games against a surging Samsung, who cut their magic number to six with two straight wins over second-place KT in a doubleheader at home in Jamsil.메이저사이트
Against first-place LG, Samsung will be looking for their first win of the season with Choi Chae-hung, who is 7-1 on the season, while their opponents will start Lee Jung-yong, who is 7-1.
