By Oh Sang-jin Reporter= Hanwha Eagles’ Chae Eun-sung (33) reached the 20-homer plateau for the season against his hometown team.
Chae Eun-sung started at third base and batted first against the LG Twins in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday.
In the top of the first inning, Hanwha’s leadoff hitter Lee Jin-young led off with a single, but the next batter, Choi In-ho, was retired on a wild pitch. With the bases loaded, Chae Eun-sung hit two foul pitches against LG starter Im Chan-kyu to get into an 0-2 count.
Chae Eun-sung swung at a three-pitch 144 km/h fastball from Im that was high and away from her body, and the powerful blast went over the left field fence for a 115-meter leadoff solo shot.메이저사이트
Following her 18th home run against the SSG Landers on April 19 and 19th against the KIA Tigers on April 21, Chae has now hit three home runs in her last four games to reach the 20-homer plateau for the season. It was her second 20-homer season in five years after hitting 25 with LG in 2018. With the home run, Chae moved into a tie for third place in the league in home runs with Park Dong-won and Austin (LG).
Meanwhile, Hanwha immediately gave up two runs off starter Ricardo Sanchez in the bottom of the first inning after Chae Eun-sung’s leadoff solo shot, falling behind LG 1-2 in the third inning.
