By Oh Sang-jin Reporter= Bae Ji-hwan, 24, of the Pittsburgh Pirates, returned to the major leagues and recorded a hit in his first at-bat.
Bae started at first base against the Minnesota Twins on July 19 (KST) at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Bae made his big league debut for the first time in 48 days after injuring his ankle against the Milwaukee Brewers on July 2 and being placed on the disabled list (IL) the next day. In nine games at Triple-A, Bae gained valuable rehab experience, batting .344 (11-for-32) with one home run, one RBI, two doubles, and a .993 OPS. With Bae looking good in his rehab games, Pittsburgh called him up sooner than expected.
In his first at-bat in the top of the first inning, Bae hit a 94.2-mile-per-hour fastball to left field from Minnesota starter Pablo Lopez. After advancing to second on a Brian Reynolds single, Bae moved to third on a Brian Hayes fly ball to right field, but back-to-back strikeouts by Zack Swinski and Henry Davis kept him from scoring.바카라사이트
Bae, who is playing his first full season in the majors in his second year, was batting .238 (51-for-214) with two home runs, 19 RBIs, 20 doubles and a .609 OPS in 76 games prior to his injury return.
