I chose Chung-Ang University because I thought the guards were good and I could get more time to play at Chung-Ang University.”
Chung-Ang University will complete its domestic off-season training, which began in Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do on the 2nd, in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, on the 24th.
When asked about the difference in training between universities and high schools, Seo Ji-woo (200cm, F/C), a freshman at Chung-Ang University, met in Sangju on the 23rd, said, “The biggest thing is defense. Chung-Ang University presses from the 3/4 part of all training games, making it difficult for me to find my seat quickly and carry the ball regardless of which player I block. When an opponent makes a set defense, it is faster and stronger than in high school.”마카오토토
Seo Ji-woo said, “It’s hard, but it’s okay,” adding, “It’s good to see the coach keep blocking the big man and sometimes try to keep up even if he can’t catch up, so both the coach and the coach say we can try even if we don’t.”
“In terms of team circumstances, I am the second tallest after Lim Dong-il. In offense, I usually play No. 5 (center). The coaches and coaches have not decided on position division, saying that center players also need to shoot and pass. When defending, I usually block the opponent team’s big men,” Seo said. “I think it is right for a freshman to assist older brothers because there are many good and good older brothers, such as Lim Dong-eon and Kang Hyun-soo, not even senior students. I try to do that as much as possible,” he said in explaining his role at Chung-Ang University this year.
Seo Ji-woo said, “Korea University and Yonsei University are good schools, and the coaches of middle and high schools also recommended Chung-Ang University, and I chose Chung-Ang University because I thought the guards were good and I could get more time to play at Chung-Ang University.”
“The most disappointing moment in Chung-Ang University was that I lost to Korea University in the MBC Cup and other events, so I couldn’t win the title. That’s why I really want to win,” he added. “I’ve never won a championship before in middle and high school, so I really want to win a championship.”
Yang Hyung-seok, head coach of Chung-Ang University, considers all new students who entered this year to have their own advantages, so they can be fully utilized.
Seo Ji-woo also said, “Seo Jung-gu and Ko Chan-yu are all good, and I think Do Hyun-woo, Jeong Se-young, Jin Hyun-min, Kim Min-geun and Jung Hyun-seok are good at many things, and there are stories that our classmates are good at recruiting new students,” adding, “I think it’s worth trying with other college freshmen.”
You have to grow further on the college stage so that you can get better reviews when you enter the professional stage.
“When I was in high school, I was the tallest player in my team and owned a lot of balls. I didn’t have bad rebounding and attack,” Seo said. “I need to improve my shooting ability outside (in college). I hope I can learn the defense rotation and rotate quickly, and even if I join the team, I hope defense and ball flow will go around as well as other members did,” Seo said in expressing hope that Seo will grow in college.
About two months are left before the opening of the college basketball league.
Seo Ji-woo said, “I usually don’t feel well in March and April. This year, I want to spend the year supporting my older brothers as much as possible without any injuries and working hard talking like a freshman.”
