South Korea’s baseball team, led by head coach Choi Jung-myung, swept the Philippines 7-0 in the third-place game at Taipei Dome in Taipei, Taiwan, on Tuesday.굿모닝토토

In the tournament, which featured a team comprised mainly of prospects, Korea qualified as the second best team in the group, but lost to Japan in the super round.

However, the team won the final game, the third-place match, to complete the tournament.

Kim Dong-hyuk (Kiwoom Heroes) was the star of the show on the mound. Kim pitched five shutout innings to earn the win. He struck out four and walked none.

Woo Kang-hoon (Lotte Giants) followed with two scoreless innings, and Jung Hyun-soo (Songwon University) and Jang Min-ki (KIA Tigers) combined for one scoreless inning of relief.

While the bullpen kept the Filipino bats at bay, the offense scored a run in the first inning and added another in the fourth. They added five more runs in the seventh inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Jung Jun-jae (Dongguk University) went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while Jung Hyun-seung (Inha University) was 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in the win.
