According to Gameday.com, the average salary for MLB relievers (including closers) at the start of the 2023 season was $2,318,772. That’s about a third of what starting pitchers make.

The LG Twins have given Ko Woo-seok permission to post about Major League Baseball (MLB). But it’s conditional. The MLB team has to offer a ransom that everyone is happy with. So, what’s a “reasonable offer”?토토사이트

In total, there were 304 relievers under contract at the start of 2023. The highest-paid player in this category was Edwin Diaz (New York Mets), with a salary of $19.65 million. This was more than 50% less than his teammates at the time, starting pitchers Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander.

The next highest paid relievers were Kenley Jansen (Boston Red Sox) and Raisel Iglesias (Atlanta Braves) at $16 million.

There were 153 relievers (50.3%) who earned more than $1 million, while 24 relievers (4.3%) earned the league-low salary of $720,000. There were 39 relievers (12.8%) who earned more than the average salary.

Oh, who reached the big leagues after playing for the Samsung Lions of the KBO and the Hanshin Tigers of the NPB, signed a 1+1 contract with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2016. His first-year salary was $2.5 million at the time, and he reportedly received $2.75 million the following year. Adjusted for inflation, that’s about $3 million today. In 2023 dollars, that would have been slightly more than the league average.

So, it will be interesting to see how MLB values Go Woo-seok, but if they see him as an Oh Seung-hwan, they will likely offer him around $3 million per year.

Seung-hwan Oh spent his first year in St. Louis as a middle reliever before taking over as the closer when Rosenthal struggled. Go Woo-seok is likely to follow the same path as Oh Seung-hwan.
