Jürgen Klinsmann’s men’s national football team won their second Group C match of the FIFA Confederations Cup North America 2026 Asia-Pacific second qualifying round 3-0 against China at the Shenzhen Universidad Sports Center in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China on Wednesday.
After a 5-0 win in the first leg against Singapore on Sept. 16, the Klinsmanns continued their second-round cruise with the win over China. The win also boosted their momentum ahead of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup.레모나토토
In the second leg, Klinsmann’s ‘attacking football’ came to life. After a slow start in the September A matches, the offense really picked up in the two October A matches. After scoring 10 goals in two games, Klinsmann carried the momentum into the World Cup Qualifiers. He scored five goals against Singapore and three against China.
The attacking lineup has also been finalized. Klinsmann chose a frontline of Son Heung-min, Lee Kang-in, and Hwang Hee-chan, with Cho Kyu-sung leading the way. They freely switched positions during the game to create openings. There was some concern that giving the players freedom would lead to a lack of detail, but it had a positive effect on their creativity. Son Heung-min said, “You might think we don’t have detail because of the word ‘free,’ but without that, we couldn’t score many goals. It’s about playing meticulously, making promised plays, and moving freely during the game.”
Lee Kang-in and Cho Kyu-sung teamed up for another goal against Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar, while Son Heung-min, who has played a supportive role for his teammates in the national team, showed off his goal-scoring instincts in both games. Hwang Hee-chan and Lee Kang-in also continued their recent good form. Several players also scored from set pieces. Whenever they lost the ball in the opponent’s half, they immediately applied pressure to regain possession. The attacking football that Klinsmann wanted to play was taking shape.
They also found a way to exploit tight defenses. Against Vietnam, Singapore, and China, they scored a lot of goals. Teams that were outgunned were forced to play extreme defensive tactics, but once they took the lead, they were able to run away with the game.
At the same time, the defense remained stable. Kim Min-jae and Jung Seung-hyun worked together as a center back duo to keep a clean sheet for the sixth consecutive A-Match. The offense was harmonious.
With a win in November, Klinsmann’s side now have only the Asian Cup to look forward to. South Korea, a two-time Asian Cup champion, hasn’t finished on top since 1960. They will attempt to win the tournament next January for the first time in 63 years.
Klinsmann has made winning the Asian Cup his top priority since taking over. Despite the ‘remote coaching’ controversy, he continued with his plan to win the Asian Cup. According to the Korean Football Association, Klinsmann is confident about the tournament. He is also confident in the strength of the national team, which is considered to be the strongest ever.
“Our goal is clear,” Klinsmann said. We’re doing well in the second round of qualifying, so the first goal is to qualify for the World Cup in North and Central America,” Klinsmann said.
“The goal for the Asian Cup is to win it. We have the players to win it. We need to work harder on the training ground to win. We know we have to train more and prepare well. It will not be easy and there will be many challenges. We will face a lot of good opponents, but I want to tell you that the goal is to win.”
