SSG Landers closer Seo Jin-yong (31) has ended his ‘no-blown save (BS)’ streak. But he still has a clear goal in mind.

Seo recorded his first BS of the season on July 27 against the Jamsil Doosan Bears. In the bottom of the ninth inning with a 5-4 lead, Seo gave up back-to-back singles to Jeong Soo-bin and Kim Jae-ho to put runners on first and third before giving up a sacrifice fly to Jose Rojas.

Seo had saved all of his save situations this season without blowing a single one, becoming the first pitcher to record 30 saves without a BS in 18 seasons since 2006, when BS began to be officially counted, but his historic “no BS” streak came to an end in his 35th save opportunity.

But he didn’t falter when the streak ended. The SSG bench believed in him until the end. Seo took the mound in the bottom of the 10th inning of extra innings when SSG regained the lead at 8-5. After the game, SSG head coach Kim Won-hyung said, “Although (Seo) Jinyong recorded his first blown save of the season, he has been doing so well. He pitched two innings and contributed greatly to the victory. Jin Yong-i really struggled,” and encouraged him.

The motivation is still there. When Seo reached 30 saves without a BS earlier, he said he wasn’t looking to extend the record, but rather to become the club’s all-time leader in saves and saves in a single season. Ha Jae-hoon (2019-36 saves) holds the record for most saves in a season in club history, including his time with the SK Wyverns. Seo is three saves away from breaking that record. He has a big lead over second-place Kim Jae-yoon (KT Wiz – 24 saves) in the league’s overall saves category, so he has a good chance of winning the title.메이저사이트

Ha Jae-hoon cheered, saying, “Jinyong should definitely break my record, and I will break other records as a hitter now.” Seo Jinyong also vowed to “break the team’s record for most saves in a season and become the number one in saves.”
